I’m a VT operator based in Cape Town, running a Qtake (4 cameras) playback rig, Sound Devices Pix recorders, and Teradek Bolt 6 wireless, with monitors for director, DP, and focus puller.
Recent credits include The Crown, Black Mirror, One Piece, Boy Kills World, The Kissing Booth, Devil’s Peak, Warrior, Average Joe, Deep State, and Just Now Jeffrey, spanning Netflix, HBO Max, MGM+, DStv, BET+, and Bioscope Films.

Playback: 4× Qtake cameras (R 3 400 per camera / day, 4 available).
Wireless: Teradek Bolt 6 LT (TX + RX), Teradek 3000 wireless system, Teradek Sidekick, additional Bolt 6 RX for focus puller and director.
Monitors: Swit 23.7", Action Monitor, 3× Sony A170, 2× SmallHD Indie 7 (handheld).
Operator day rate is quoted on request. Long-form (series / feature), TVC / commercial day, half-day, and weekly bookings each have their own rate. Gear day rates listed separately.

What is a VT operator?
I run the on-set playback rig during a film or TV shoot. I take the live feed from the camera, distribute it wirelessly to the director, DP, focus puller and 1st AD, record every take, and play it back instantly so the team can review what was just shot.
VT operator vs DIT: what's the difference?
I handle live on-set monitoring and playback in real time. A DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) handles file management, dailies prep, and colour pipeline. They're complementary roles.
Do you work on TVCs and commercials?
Yes, TVC commercial work is a regular part of my calendar. I run a Qtake (4-camera) playback rig purpose-built for the multi-camera, fast-turnaround style of commercial shoots.
Do you work on features and TV series?
Yes. Credits include Boy Kills World (Lionsgate), The Crown (Netflix), Black Mirror (Netflix), One Piece (Netflix), Warrior (HBO Max), Devil's Peak (DStv), Deep State (MGM+), and more. Long-form schedules are my bread and butter.
Where are you based, and do you travel?
Milnerton, Cape Town. The full Cape area is standard. Johannesburg, Garden Route, and cross-border to Namibia, Zimbabwe or Botswana are quoted with travel and per-diems. Open to international shoots on enquiry.
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes. Redundancy is built into the cart across recorders, wireless TX/RX and monitors. A signal failure on a long-take feature can cost five figures. I plan for it.
Can I hire just the gear without the operator?
Yes, gear can be hired separately at the published day rates. I'd usually recommend hiring the kit with me as operator (the rig is set up and tuned around my workflow), but standalone gear hire is available on request.
